This Privacy Policy explains how WeatherRoast collects and uses information through the website at weatherroast.app.
It applies to the WeatherRoast marketing website and contact form. The WeatherRoast mobile application has its own separate privacy policy.
WeatherRoast is responsible for the personal information collected through this website.
For privacy questions or requests, contact:
Email: hello@weatherroast.app
When you contact WeatherRoast through the website, we collect:
your name;
your email address;
the reason for your enquiry;
your message;
the date and time of your submission; and
any other information you choose to include.
This information is sent to WeatherRoast by email so that we can read and respond to your enquiry.
When you submit the contact form, your IP address is temporarily processed to prevent spam and repeated automated submissions.
The IP address is converted into a one-way hash for rate-limiting purposes. The readable IP address is not included in the contact email received by WeatherRoast.
The contact page also uses a temporary website session to protect the form and prevent duplicate or unauthorised submissions.
The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to help distinguish genuine visitors from automated spam.
Turnstile may process technical information about your browser, device, network connection and interaction with the security check. Your form submission also includes a short-lived Turnstile verification token, which is sent to Cloudflare for validation.
If you select Accept on the cookie banner, WeatherRoast uses Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the website.
Google Analytics may collect information including:
pages visited;
general website interactions;
approximate location, such as country or city;
browser and device type;
operating system;
referring website or search source;
session information; and
the date, time and approximate duration of a visit.
We do not deliberately send your name, email address or contact-form message to Google Analytics.
Google Analytics does not load unless you accept analytics cookies.
When you accept or reject analytics cookies, your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage for six months.
This allows the website to remember and honour your decision without showing the banner on every visit.
We use information collected through the website to:
respond to questions, feedback and support requests;
investigate reported bugs or technical problems;
handle press, business or general enquiries;
prevent spam, fraud and misuse;
protect and maintain the website;
understand how visitors use the website where analytics has been accepted; and
improve the website and the way WeatherRoast is presented.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not add people who use the contact form to a marketing mailing list unless they separately ask to receive marketing communications.
We rely on the following lawful bases under UK data protection law:
We rely on your consent to use Google Analytics and its associated analytics cookies.
You can withdraw this consent at any time by selecting Cookie settings on the website and choosing No thanks.
We rely on our legitimate interests to:
respond to genuine enquiries;
operate and protect the website;
prevent spam, fraud and misuse;
maintain reasonable records of communications; and
investigate technical or security problems.
Where you contact WeatherRoast about a possible service, collaboration or commercial arrangement, we may use your information to take steps at your request before entering into an agreement.
The contact page may use a temporary PHP session cookie to protect the form, prevent duplicate submissions and display submission results.
This cookie is necessary for the contact form to work and is not used for advertising or analytics.
The website stores your analytics choice in your browser’s local storage for six months.
This is used only to remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics.
If you select Accept, Google Analytics may place cookies on your device, including:
_ga, which helps distinguish visitors; and
a property-specific _ga_ cookie, which helps maintain session information.
Google’s default expiry for these cookies may be up to two years, although browsers or account settings may reduce this period.
WeatherRoast does not load Google Analytics when you select No thanks.
You can change your decision at any time by selecting Cookie settings. Choosing No thanks disables Analytics and attempts to remove existing Google Analytics cookies from the WeatherRoast website.
You can also delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings.
We may share limited information with providers that help operate and protect the website, including:
Google, which provides Google Analytics;
Cloudflare, which provides Turnstile spam protection;
the website-hosting provider;
the email provider; and
technical service providers where reasonably necessary.
We may also disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect the website, our rights or other people.
Google, Cloudflare and other service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom.
Where required, international processing is subject to safeguards intended to protect personal information under applicable data-protection law.
Contact-form messages are kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to:
respond to the enquiry;
manage follow-up communication;
investigate a reported issue; and
maintain appropriate business or legal records.
Messages may be kept for longer where necessary for an ongoing complaint, dispute, security matter or legal obligation.
Rate-limiting information is designed around short-term limits and is used only for security and abuse prevention.
Your analytics preference is stored in your browser for six months.
Google Analytics information is retained according to the settings in the WeatherRoast Google Analytics account and for only as long as reasonably useful for understanding website usage.
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:
request a copy of your personal information;
ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
ask for your information to be deleted;
ask for the use of your information to be restricted;
object to certain uses of your information;
withdraw your consent to analytics; and
complain about how your information has been handled.
To make a request, email hello@weatherroast.app.
You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
The website is not designed to collect personal information directly from children.
Children should not submit personal information through the contact form without the involvement of a parent or guardian.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
However, no website, email service or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
The website may contain links to Google Play and other third-party websites or services.
Those services have their own privacy policies. WeatherRoast is not responsible for how third-party services collect or use personal information.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the website, its features, service providers or legal requirements change.
The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
