MIND YOUR EARS

Alongside a 14-day and hourly forecast, your daily weather update is read aloud by your chosen voice and displayed on screen. You can also adjust the strength of the roast in Settings. If delicate ears are nearby, voices can be muted too.

The App

Which devices does WeatherRoast work on?
WeatherRoast works natively on Android and will be available on the Google Play Store in early 2026.

How accurate are the forecasts?
WeatherRoast sources its data from the same world-class forecasting models used by professional meteorologists, including temperature, wind speed, gusts, and precipitation at your precise location. By factoring in altitude and using high-resolution data just metres from your position, forecasts are tailored to local conditions — giving location-specific forecasts that are as sharp as they are sarcastic.

Can I change units (°C/°F, mph/km/h)?
Yes — units can be set in the Settings panel.

Can I search by postcode or ZIP code?
Yes, postcodes and ZIPs are supported using the text input search.

Do I have to use my voice to check a forecast?
No. You can also search using text input — just click “Or type a placename” beneath the Tap to Talk button to enter a location manually. You can also search by post or ZIP code.

What’s the difference between ‘light’ and ‘strong’ roasts?
“Light” is cheeky but contains no swearing, while “strong” includes swearing and heavier profanity. The free version includes only the “light” roast, but if you have the full version of the app, you can switch between the two at any time in the Settings tab.

Can I mute voice responses?
Yes. If for any reason you prefer not to hear voice responses, you can mute them by selecting the speaker icon on the forecast response screen.

How do I get more weather roasts and remove banners?
If you’re using the free version of WeatherRoast, you can upgrade to the full app to unlock all 112 weather roasts. You’ll also be able to choose the accent and voice type (male or female), switch between Light and Strong roast modes, and enjoy an ad-free experience with no banners or interruptions

Data and Privacy

Do I need to create an account?
No. WeatherRoast works without sign-up.

Why does WeatherRoast ask for access to my microphone?
WeatherRoast needs microphone access so you can ask for forecasts using your voice. If you’d prefer not to grant access, you can still use the text-based search instead.

Does WeatherRoast record or store my voice?
No — WeatherRoast never records or saves your voice. Your speech is only used in real time to convert what you say into text so the app can understand your request. Once that’s done, it’s gone — nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

Does WeatherRoast listen to me all the time?
Absolutely not. WeatherRoast only listens when you tap the “Tap to Talk” button — that’s the only time the microphone is active.

Why does WeatherRoast need to know my location?
Allowing WeatherRoast to access your location lets you ask for the weather where you are, without having to say a place name. It also helps the app return more accurate local forecasts when multiple places share the same name. If you’d prefer not to grant location access, you can still use the app but you’ll miss out on the most accurate, hassle-free local forecasts.

Does the app store my location?
No — WeatherRoast doesn’t keep a record of your location. It only uses your position temporarily to fetch the forecast when you ask for it.

Subscriptions & Payments

How much is the subscription?
The full WeatherRoast experience costs just £1.49 a year — that’s it. For less cash than you’ve probably lost down the sofa this year, you’ll unlock every feature, enjoy stronger and funnier roasts, choose from multiple voices, and wave goodbye to ads and banners.

Why a subscription for the full app instead of a one-off fee?
WeatherRoast relies on live weather and location data, which carry ongoing costs to keep the service running. The small annual subscription simply covers these costs, ensuring you continue to receive accurate, up-to-date forecasts all year round.

Do you keep payment details on record?
No — we don’t store your payment details. All transactions are handled securely by trusted providers: through the Google Play Store on mobile, or Stripe if you’re using the PWA (web version). In both cases, your payment information is managed entirely by those providers — never by WeatherRoast.

How do I cancel my subscription?
If you purchased WeatherRoast through the Google Play Store, you can manage or cancel your subscription anytime under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions in your Play Store account.

Cancelling your subscription simply prevents it from renewing at the next annual billing date. You’ll still have full access to the full app and all premium features until your current subscription period ends.
